Angie Junck Named Grantmakers Concerned with Immigrants and Refugees Board Co-Chair

Grantmakers Concerned with Immigrants and Refugees (GCIR), the country’s only immigrant-focused philanthropy-supporting organization, has named Heising-Simons Foundation’s Human Rights Program Director Angie Junck as its new board co-chair. Angie has been serving on GCIR’s board since January 2020.

Angie has been leading the Heising-Simons Foundation’s Human Rights program since 2018. Previously, she was the director of Immigrant Defense Programs and Supervising Attorney at the Immigrant Legal Resource Center (ILRC) for over 13 years. In addition to GCIR, she currently serves on the boards of directors of Al Otro Lado, Human Rights Watch’s U.S. program, and California Coalition for Women Prisoners.

Founded in 1990, GCIR’s work has informed and mobilized hundreds of millions of dollars to support immigrant communities across the country. GCIR members and partners are local, state, regional, and national foundations from across the country, with diverse grantmaking priorities, including health, education, rights and justice, economic security, and more.
