The University of Colorado Foundation receives, manages, and invests private support for the benefit of the University of Colorado and supports the university’s philanthropic endeavors.

This grant is for the endowment of the Deborah Jin Memorial Graduate Fellowship at the department of physics at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Professor Deborah Jin, a world-renowned physicist, died at the age of 47 in 2016. She was a pioneer in the field of atomic physics, exploring the properties of gases at ultracold temperatures and developing innovative technical systems to study their behavior.

The departmentwill select two incoming women graduate students each year to receive the fellowship. The fellowship aims to grow the number of women leaders in physics by ensuring that female students are recognized early on for their potential, receive support as researchers, build the necessary skillsets to thrive in physics, and become part of a larger network of scientists.
