Pure Justice is based in Houston, Texas, and is a Black-led, membership-based organization that aims to transform Harris County’s criminal justice system and remove economic barriers for formerly incarcerated individuals. Driven by Black and Brown volunteers who have been impacted by the criminal justice system. Pure Justice uses grassroots organizing and policy advocacy to achieve systemic change by raising community voices and crafting policy solutions that meet community needs.

The grant supports Pure Justice, including: community organizing and support for marginalized communities of color with the goal of building relationships and forming a base of dedicated members; expanding its fellowship program that provides 6-months of organizer training, civic education, and practices with developing and running campaigns; and solidify its organizational foundation to bring on permanent positions.
