New Initiative Lifts Up Early Childhood Practitioners in California with $2 Million in Awards

The Heising-Simons Foundation’s Education program is pleased to share that Practitioners’ Voice California (PVCA), housed at Tides Foundation, has granted nearly $2 million to community-based organizations across California to build up the leadership power of early childhood practitioners. PVCA is supported by a consortium of foundations, including Heising-Simons Foundation.

Grantee EDvance College Receives College Accreditation

EDvance College, a grantee partner of the Foundation’s Education program, has received college accreditation from WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC), a move that will allow early childhood educators to receive a bachelor’s degree while maintaining employment in the field.

Storytelling Math Honored with 2023 Mathical Book Prizes

Storytelling Math, a collaboration between Education grantee partner TERC and Charlesbridge Publishing, won multiple awards at the 2023 Mathical Book Prize, announced on February 15. Again, Essie! by Jenny Lacika won the Mathical Award for Pre-Kindergarten books, and Usha and the Big Digger by Amitha Jagannath Knight was one of two Honor Books for Pre-Kindergarten.
