Our Goal

The goal of the Foundation’s Climate and Clean Energy program is to protect people and the planet from the worst impacts of climate change by helping make energy clean, affordable, safe, and reliable for all.

Overview

The Foundation’s Climate and Clean Energy program supports organizations, projects, and coalitions that help advance and implement policies to accelerate progress on clean energy and reduce suffering due to climate change.

The program supports efforts primarily in the United States, focused on four strategic areas: advancing climate policy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions; transforming the energy sectors that are the primary source of pollution to accelerate the transition to clean energy; cutting the most potent pollutants, such as methane; and seizing time-sensitive opportunities to achieve large-scale emission reductions.

The program’s grantee partners develop innovative approaches to: 1) ensure access to clean and affordable energy; 2) build coalitions to bring those benefits to communities; 3) advocate for effective policies; 4) defend the rights of communities; and 5) communicate the urgency of cutting pollution and providing safe and reliable energy for all.
