The Sounds of Separation —  How Eight Minutes of Audio Changed the Immigration Debate
CNN, June 24, 2018
This piece highlights the heart-wrenching audio between children separated from their parents and border patrol workers, and its role in shaping the current immigration debate. The audio was obtained by ProPublica, a grantee of the Foundation’s journalism portfolio in the Community and Opportunity program.

Natural Gas Could Warm the Planet as Much as Coal in the Short Term
Science, June 21, 2018
Led by grantee Environmental Defense Fund, this paper shows the U.S. oil and gas industry emits 13 million metric tons of methane, which is nearly 60 percent more than current Environmental Protection Agency estimates. These findings are based on a first-of-its-kind, five-year research series on methane emissions from the U.S. natural gas supply chain.

It’s Time to Decriminalize Immigration

Pruitt Would Like Us to Ignore the Indirect Benefits of Environmental Regulations

In this article, the director of New York University’s Institute for Policy Integrity argues that, regardless of who is at the helm of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in the U.S., it is critical for the EPA to consider indirect social and economic benefits when assessing the impacts of environmental regulation.
