News & Stories President Biden Announces Intent to Appoint Liz Simons as Member of Coordinating Council on Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Share By Jorge Cino on 5/12/2023 on 5/12/2023 Today, President Biden announced key appointments to several boards and commissions, including his intent to appoint Liz Simons, Chair of the Board of the Heising-Simons Foundation, to serve as a member of the Coordinating Council on Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. The Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act of 1974 established the Coordinating Council on Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention as an independent organization in the executive branch of the federal government to coordinate federal programs related to delinquency, unaccompanied juveniles, and missing and exploited children. In accordance with the Federal Advisory Committee Act, the Council holds public meetings four times each year in which members discuss activities to facilitate and support this cross-agency coordination. The Council’s Chair is the Attorney General and its Vice-Chair is the Administrator of the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. Read the White House’s full announcement here.
