Yalda Mohammadi is a program associate for Human Rights at the Heising-Simons Foundation. Yalda brings a demonstrated commitment to working and volunteering in the nonprofit sector, with a focus on women’s and immigrants’ rights. Some of her previous roles include teaching at-risk communities with the Institute of Reading Development, mentoring refugee families from Afghanistan, and co-leading statewide capacity building efforts with the California Partnership to End Domestic Violence. In an effort to stay connected to her community, Yalda volunteers as an on-call Farsi interpreter for local domestic violence and sexual assault service providers, assisting clients with crisis intervention and safety planning needs.

Yalda received an interdisciplinary master’s degree in the humanities, with a focus in gender studies, from San Francisco State University.
