New Article by Barbara Chow in NonProfit Quarterly

Earlier this week, Barbara Chow, director of the Education program at the Heising-Simons Foundation, published a piece in NonProfit Quarterly about fostering more in-depth and equitable conversations between grantseekers and grantmakers.

“Six Questions to Ask Your Foundation Program Officer” was co-written with Ruth Levine, policy fellow at the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University, and the former program director of Global Development and Population at William and Flora Hewlett Foundation.

“Recognizing the natural inhibitions that grantseekers have about asking questions and the limited time available for discussion,” the authors explain, “we’re offering six practical conversation starters—questions that are easy for grantseekers to ask of program officers, easy for program officers to answer, and likely to open a dialogue that serves both sides well.”
